Latency Requirements for Teams Telephony Infrastructure.
- Latency for voice calls is ideal when it is less than 150ms.
- Call quality is good, if latency is between 150-300ms, users will notice slower call setup. Ring more times before call is connected.
- 300-600ms, users will notice lapses in call conversations.
- >600ms, bad call quality and call issues.
Bandwidth requirements - in summary Teams will prioritize the Audio stream/quality over the Video stream in case the bandwidth is not enough.
- For PSTN calls we try to use G.711 A-law, (84 kbit/s). This is per direction or audio stream.
- For Audio Stream the up/downstream requirements per endpoint are from 10/10 KB/s (min) to 76/76 KB/s (best performance)
- Respectively the values for Video stream are from 150/150 KB/s (min) to 4000/4000 KB/s (best performance).
- For Screen Sharing Stream values are from 200/200 KB/s (min) to 4000/4000 KB/s (best)
- Last 3 are more related to general Teams-to-Teams calls.
